| How sustainable are Baltic cities? | ||||
Sustainability in the Baltic Cities The UBC work concentrates on the well-being of UBC member cities. In order to address the needs of the cities, the Union of the Baltic Cities has developed a UBC Agenda 21 Action Program 2004-2009 – Roadmap for Sustainable Baltic Cities, which guides the work of the Union of the Baltic Cities over six years. The development of our member cities, and therefore the impact of our work has been evaluated through the Baltic Cities Sustainable Development Survey 2006/2007 and 2004/2005. The results of the surveys provide a good understanding of the situation of Sustainability in the Baltic Sea Region. Advancing Sustainable Development is a joint process - a common cause for the whole global community. The UBC is actively co-operating with numerous partners and is involved in several important joint initiatives and policy processes: in the Baltic Sea Region, in Europe, and globally. Together with partners the UBC is able to make a significant impact on the Sustainable development. |
